Amazing Ruby Falls
Nearby Chattanooga, only about 90 minutes away is an amazing underground wonder called Ruby Falls. Centuries ago, at the base of Lookout Mountain, the entrance to a cave was discovered. It didn’t take long for tales to travel far and wide about the vast caverns and huge chambers this cave held. From Native Americans of long ago to modern-day explorers: everyone is awe-struck by what lies inside the entrance.

This underground waterfall towers at 145 feet tall, gushes over 300 gallons of water per minute and is one of the largest underground falls accessible to the public. A truly magnificent sight on its own, the waterfall is only enhanced by the addition of colored lighting that can be used to add depth and interest to the cavern.

The Ruby Falls tour is more than a short glimpse at an ordinary waterfall. The complete tour takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Using a paved path that stretches almost 1 mile, you’ll walk along getting an up-close view of rocks and other geological formations. The highlight of your tour is a stop at Ruby Falls where you can see this giant right before your eyes.

Whether you’re a nature lover who loves to explore, a teacher in need of an attention-grabbing field trip or someone who likes to discover interesting sights; Ruby Falls is an exceptional tour. And, since rain is never a factor (because you’re inside a cave), you won’t have to worry about cancelling plans due to inclement weather.

Whatever you do, be sure to bring your camera to capture all the fun. This is one day trip you and your family will remember for years.
